The Americano is a cocktail composed of Campari, sweet vermouth, and club soda. The cocktail was first served in creator Gaspare Campari’s bar, Cafe Campari, in the 1860s. It was originally known as the “Milano-Torino” because of its ingredients – Campari, the bitters, is from Milan and Cinzano, the vermouth, is from Turin (Torino). Invented by Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon for the Raffles Hotel in Singapore sometime between 1910 and 1915. It is considered their signature drink. At some point it fell into disuse such that the official recipe served at the hotel had to be created from memory by bar staff and notes they discovered.

It’s a nice refreshing drink best enjoyed on a hot summer’s day.
