The Mint Julep is distinctive to the southern United States; and is similar to a mojito in its use of mint and sugar.

The Mojito originated from Havana in the late 19th century and gained popularity in the 1930’s. It’s made of mint, cane sugar, and rum; similar to a Mint Julep.
