Tom Collins is the best known Collins cocktail, a group of long drinks made during WWI served in a highball or collins glass.

Made of gin, lemon juice, sugar and soda water it’s easy to make and best of all easy to drink!

The martini is traditionally made with gin and dry white vermouth, though in recent years substituting vodka for gin has become more popular than the original recipe.

Over the years, the martini has become perhaps the most well-known mixed alcoholic beverage.

Invented by Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon for the Raffles Hotel in Singapore sometime between 1910 and 1915. It is considered their signature drink. At some point it fell into disuse such that the official recipe served at the hotel had to be created from memory by bar staff and notes they discovered.

It has been suggested that this drink was invented during the Prohibition era in the US because of its similarity to non-alcoholic iced tea. However, it is thought that it was actually invented by a bartender in Long Island, New York, in the late 1970’s.

The Bronx Cocktail is essentially a perfect martini with orange juice added. It was ranked number three in “The World’s 10 Most Famous Cocktails in 1934”, making it a very popular rival to the Martini and the Manhattan.

In the novel Casino Royale, Bond’s recipe is specified in more detail as made with three measures of gin (Gordon’s was Bond’s preference), one measure of vodka (grain vodka is preferred), and half a measure of Kina Lillet aperitif, shaken until ice-cold, and with a large, thin slice of lemon peel for garnish (properly called a “Vesper” after his love interest in the book). The gibson is a slight variation of the traditional gin martini, however it uses more gin and a pickled onion peel for a garnish, instead of an olive.
